2010 Picture Your World Contest Winners Announced
The "Picture Your World" youth photography contest held its annual reception and awards ceremony on Sunday, May 9th, to honor its students and announce this year's winners. With over 170 applicants this year, the reception was a great success.
In the 8 to 12-year-old group, Serafin Gatica took first place, Star Morales second, and Will Napier third. Among 13 to 18-year-olds, Allison Morey took first place, followed by Elena Hernandez in second and Allison Pope in third. Cash prizes were $300, $200, and $100 for first, second, and third places. Photos earning "honorable mention" were also displayed at the event.
"Picture Your World" is designed to educate youth on the importance of environmental preservation and appreciation and adds the dimension of artistic expression, as the youth are instructed in photographic techniques, subject selection, and composition. We are amazed each season at the outstandingly creative entries received for the contest.
